OUR MISSION IS SIMPLE: Shape the future of energy In collaboration with private energy companies and government institutions, the Institute for Integrated Energy Studies fosters interdisciplinary engagement among colleges and schools across Central Washington University in order to provide an unprecedented combination of education, research, and professional training in the areas of conventional and renewable energy resources. The Institute develops the nation’s future professionals via a three-track degree program; shares knowledge through regional, national and international collaborations; and serves businesses and academia as the Pacific Northwest’s premiere resource for relevant research in integrated energy issues. HERE’S HOW WE’RE GOING TO ACCOMPLISH IT: 1. Provide focused, interdisciplinary education for students and professionals in order to fully prepare them to meet the ever-changing challenges of the integrated energy field 2. Foster the creation of interdisciplinary research teams to understand, analyze, and solve the main energy issues of the future 3. Develop policy recommendations in order to reduce fossil fuel dependence, decrease greenhouse gas emissions, and implement alternative sources of energy at local, state, national, and international scales 4. Share insights and findings externally to private and public energy sectors via professional partnerships and consulting opportunities
