About

The Applied Electromagnetics Group (GEA) brings more than two decades of experience developing numerical tools and advanced RF technologies for the analysis, design and optimization of passive devices, periodic structures and antennas for space applications. We design, manufacture, and validate waveguide components (including polarizers, filters, diplexers/triplexers, OMTs, power combiners, and beamforming networks) and dichroic sub-reflectors that have flown on major telecommunications satellites and scientific missions (Hispasat-1A-B-C-E, Artemis, Sesat, Astra-1K-3B-1M, Europe*Star, Newbird, Sky-Bridge, Eutelsat-W2A, Amazonas-2-5, Mars Express, Venus, Express, Rosetta, Herschel-Planck, Bepi-Colombo, among others). Our work also includes ESA contracts on innovative reflectarray antenna technologies for space applications. Other areas of research span reconfigurable antennas from 9 GHz to 300 GHz using different technologies (pin diodes, MEMS and liquid crystals), RF components based on metamaterials, and the evaluation of biological effects of electromagnetic fields, including hyperthermia and dosimetry. We bridge numerical EM tools and practical implementations of RF devices to deliver high-impact solutions for challenging applications.
