Promoting mutual understanding between the peoples of Hungary and the United States by means of educational and cultural exchange since 1978 (Program) / 1992 (Commission) About 1,300 Hungarian and 1,100 U.S. Fulbright scholar and student grantees participated in the program to date. The Hungarian-American Fulbright Commission for Educational Exchange has been registered in Hungary as a non-profit public interest educational foundation: Magyar-Amerikai Fulbright Alapítvány The Fulbright Commission welcomes applications from students seeking MA, MS degrees in all fields, conducting PhD research, pursuing LLMs, and studying in non-degree, certificate granting programs no longer than one academic year in duration. The Fulbright Commission does not fund J.D., M.D. or MBA studies. Research proposals at the PhD dissertation level in law, medicine or business are otherwise encouraged. PhD coursework is not funded by the Commission, only dissertation research done in the US by a student earning a doctorate at a Hungarian university.
