Its high-quality programs combine rigorous theoretical foundations with practical applications. The Department offers three degree programs: two bachelor’s degrees—Statistics for Economics and Business (SEI) and Statistics for Technology and Science (STS)—and a master’s degree in Statistical Sciences. The Department also coordinates a PhD program in Statistical Sciences. It includes the majority of the University’s faculty members working in the fields of Statistics, Economic Statistics, Social Statistics, and Demography. Research at the Department is interdisciplinary and tackles major contemporary challenges through the application of advanced statistical methodologies across diverse domains—including environmental, biomedical, socio-demographic, economic, physical, and technological fields. The Department increasingly applies its research to key societal issues such as public health, well-being, population aging, and the green and digital transitions. It also fosters strong collaborations with businesses, public institutions, and local communities, reinforcing the connection between academic research, the territory, and innovation. All departmental activities take place at the Santa Caterina Complex, a true campus in the heart of Padua that houses the Department’s offices, lecture halls, study areas, and a Library.
